In 1993, a group of friends living in a La Jolla house full of entertainment became a hit hangout, earning the nickname "Sector 9" from a friend, inspired by their lifestyle and an answering machine message. When their favorite makeshift skateboard was stolen, they started making their own boards, branding them with the "Sector 9" logo. These skateboards quickly became popular, leading them to start a skateboard business in their first warehouse, giving birth to the Sector 9 skateboard factory.
